Today we took the kids down to Oceanside beach. Today was officially the first time in 8 years that Caden actually went into the water and wasn't freaking out about sand being in his pants. Caden and Davin played in the waves for along time. The water was really warm today. It was great to see them having so much fun with each other in the waves. The kids loved building castles, digging holes and running through the water chasing the fish that they saw. Another great day for us!

Cardiff by the Sea
Our adventure to the beach at Cardiff by the Sea started with a flat tire. The greatest part of the flat tire was I was reading through the manual to the car a few days before and left it on the counter in the kitchen. In addition to the missing manual, the special socket to get our nuts off our rims was missing from the inside of the car. This made Erin happy. After contacting AAA, and receiving assistance from them, we were on our way to our destination Cardiff by the Sea. The boys enjoyed looking for crabs and catching sand crabs. Timeri ended up catching the largest sand crab. We had a great and relaxing time.

Bonsai Girl
We came home from our great vacation, Erin had to run to the store to get groceries for our house. He took Timeri and they came home with food and makeup she swindled out of him. Well she was in the bathroom for sometime and came out....WHALA !! We have a zombie for a daughter. She silently went in the backyard. Erin and I didn't think much of her silence until we opened the door... She bonsaied our bush! I don't know what she was thinking. She put some of the cuttings into a cooler that we had on our side yard. When we asked her what she was doing she just cried. She cried for 45 minutes and wouldn't speak to anyone. Erin kept telling her,"You better stop crying, you are going to ruin your pretty makeup!" Anytime I said "Bonsai-girl" she cried again...it was pretty funny.

Our last day in paradise consisted of feeding deer and catching fish. At lunch time Erin and I decided to pack everything up and head to Tahoe. We were all very sad to leave. The boys were crying as we packed. I promised them they would rememberer thier memories and we would be back next year. We were now headed to Tahoe our last leg of our wonderful vacation.

Our last night
We decided to leave food out and look for bears. Our last night was a very silly night. We were all laughing together and having fun. What a great little vacation. We are all looking forward to the second leg of our vacation in Tahoe.
Tioga Pass
Our FAVORITE gas station meal. At the Tioga Pass there is a Mobil gas station that has a 5 star restaraunt inside of it. It is our favorite stop off the 395....yummm !

Mamie Lake
We ventured on today to Mamie Lake in Mammoth. The kids found another fish to call their pet and enjoyed digging into the shoreline and feeding the baby ducks that swam past them. Erin and I just enjoyed sitting back in silence with each other, relaxing, enjoying the scenery and catching fish. The scenery and waterfalls from this lake were breath taking. Another great day!

Yosemite
Our day in Yosemite started with a picnic on a rock right next to the river. Erin and I dream of having a house on a river one day.
We ventured down further into the Yosemite basin. The scenery was breath taking. Yosemite is a truly beautiful place. We found a secluded place to fish. This is where our vacation became a little scary. Erin found a great place to fish. He was standing in the middle of the river, which had a strong current. The kids walked out to be next to him and before we knew it, Slater was whisked away down stream screaming and crying. Caden and Erin jumped in after him. Thankfully he was safe. We stayed a little longer, until Erin was able to catch a fish.
We then continued to explore different areas of Yosemite. The kids were amazed at huge waterfalls. We hiked a little further along a river where Erin and the kids decided to jump in to get over to a rock in the middle. (videos to come...still downloading)

Virginia Lake
The following day we went to Virginia Lakes to fish. The scenery was beautiful and the kids enjoyed the waterfalls. They also enjoyed climbing around on the various rocks and fallen trees. They also were able to catch several fish and baby trout in a Gatorade bottle. We had another great day and loved spending time with each other.

Moat Lake
Erin was quite impressed with the kids the day before hiking to Walker Lake, so he asked if they would be up for our steepest hike... Moat Lake. He was determined to find a lake that had golden trout that he could catch. Golden's are only found at the higher elevation lakes. The lake would be the highest in elevation that we have ever hiked to. Above 10,000 feet. We all love him so much, that we all would make the sacrifice for him to catch a golden. The kids were up for it. I knew they could do it, it was me being pregnant that would slow them down. I knew I could make it, I just would have to take breaks. Well our venture started and we hiked up the narrow switch back path. Virginia Lakes that we passed kept getting smaller and smaller as we continued the incline to Moat Lake. I would occasionally stop to catch my breath with Slater. Erin impressed me the most. He was carrying all the bags of beach towels, blankets, change of clothes for everyone, jackets, lunch and all the fishing equipment. He is my hero. We finally made it to the lake. It was absolutely beautiful. We were so high up in the mountains, the snow was still there. The kids had a blast. We stayed there all day and finally headed back at the dusk.
On our way out we stopped at Blue Lake to try our luck. The kids were still full of energy after a long day of hiking. The olds boys gave the younger ones piggy back rides on their backs. Another GREAT day ! The kids were awesome. We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful family.
